Here is an infographic of most every programming language, when it premiered, and how popular each one currently is. I wanted to point out that I have experience in most mentioned, and even a few that aren’t mentioned in this graphic.
I learned the nine least popular languages listed (as arranged by most popular) while I went to community college in the mid 1990s. The top nine were just beginning to be introduced, to which the decrepit professor proclaimed, “I refuse to teach those, the internet is a fad!” Needless to say, I left that school and in the 20 years since, have taught them to myself, ironically perhaps, using the internet.
The only two I haven’t played with yet are Ruby, and Python. Ruby is supported by my webhost. Perhaps someday when I’m not busy with my other projects, I’ll mess around in that too…
